The cost of a panel upgrade depends on your current panel amperage, the condition of existing wiring, whether the meter base needs replacement, and your local permit requirements. A straightforward 100A-to-200A upgrade on a home with accessible wiring runs differently than a panel relocation or a service entrance replacement on an older home with original conduit. Signs Your Panel Needs Replacing
These aren't minor inconveniences. They're warning signs your current system can't carry the load safely.
Breakers That Trip Under Normal Load
A breaker that trips when you run the microwave and the dishwasher simultaneously isn't faulty. It's doing exactly what it's supposed to. Your panel is undersized. Resetting breakers repeatedly puts wear on the mechanism and masks the real problem.
Panel Is Warm or Smells Like Burning
Heat and any burning odor from the panel box are serious. Both indicate the panel is working harder than it's rated for, or connections have degraded. Stop using the affected circuits and call us before this becomes a fire.

How a Panel Upgrade Works

Panel Replacement and Wiring
We shut off service at the meter, remove the old panel, and install the new one. Every circuit is transferred, labeled, and torqued to spec. We don't rush this. A panel we installed should still look right in 30 years.

Inspection and Final Sign-Off
We schedule the city inspection. The inspector reviews the work against current NEC and local code amendments. When it passes, and it will, because we don't skip steps, you get a signed permit record and we get out of your way.
