Does a kitchen remodel always require a permit for the electrical work?
In most cases, yes. Any new circuit, panel modification, or relocated outlet triggers a permit requirement. The permit protects you: it ensures an inspector verifies the work before the walls are sealed. Skipping it creates problems when you sell the home. All Electric pulls the permit as part of the job.
Our home was built in the 1960s. What does that mean for a bathroom remodel?
Homes from that era often have two-wire ungrounded circuits, which can't support modern GFCI devices properly without remediation. You may also encounter wiring insulation that's brittle with age. A bathroom remodel in an older home typically requires running new grounded circuits from the panel to the bathroom, not just swapping devices. We assess the existing conditions before we quote.
How many dedicated circuits does a kitchen remodel require?
Current NEC code requires at least two 20-amp small appliance circuits for countertop receptacles, plus separate dedicated circuits for the refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, and range or oven. A full kitchen remodel in a home with an older panel often reveals that none of those are properly dedicated. We sort that out during rough-in.
Can we add an EV charger circuit during a whole-home remodel?
Yes, and a remodel is the best time to do it. When walls are already open and the panel is accessible, adding a dedicated 240-volt circuit for an EV charger is far less disruptive than a standalone installation later. We can pre-wire the garage even if you don't own an EV yet.
What's the difference between rough-in and finish electrical work?
Rough-in is everything that happens before drywall: running cables, installing boxes, and pulling wire to the panel. Finish work happens after paint: installing devices, switches, fixtures, and trim plates. Both phases require separate inspections in most jurisdictions. All Electric handles both.
Do you work directly with general contractors during a remodel?

Should I upgrade my electrical panel during a kitchen or bathroom remodel?
Not always. We assess your current panel capacity against the new load your remodel adds before recommending anything. A bathroom addition might be absorbed by an existing 200-amp service. A full kitchen remodel with high-draw appliances on a 100-amp panel almost always can't be. We won't recommend an upgrade unless the load math actually requires it.
